Mega Millions was originally called The Big Game Mega Millions. That means that it is the successor of The Big Game. The minimum value of its advertised jackpot is $15 million. The first tickets of Mega Millions were sold on August 31, 1996 at the states of Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts as well as Maryland.
